LAND SURVEYOR/CARTOGRAPHER

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Basic Requirement for GS-1373 Applicants must meet one of the following basic requirements for the 1373 series in order to be found qualified for the series. Degree:
land surveying; or civil engineering with a surveying option/emphasis. The civil engineering major must have included at least 6 semester hours of surveying, 3 semester hours of land law, and 21 additional semester hours in any combination of the following:
surveying, photogrammetry, geodetic surveying, geodesy, route surveying, remote sensing, cartography, survey astronomy, land information systems, computer-aided mapping, aerial photo interpretation, and survey analysis and adjustments. OR Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in land surveying or civil engineering as described above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. OR The basic requirements for this series may be fully satisfied by a current registration as a land surveyor in a State, territory, or the District of Columbia obtained by written examination. Such registration must have been obtained under conditions outlined in the National Council of Engineering Examiners (NCEE) Unified Model Law for Registration of Surveyors. Applicants wishing to be considered under this provision must show evidence of registration based on successful completion of the written examinations. Registrations granted prior to adoption of a registration law with qualification requirements equivalent to the NCEE Model Law by the State, territory, or District of Columbia are not acceptable under this option. To be considered equivalent to the NCEE Model law, registration laws must include the four options listed within the NCEE Unified Model Law in the section specifying General Requirements for Registration as a Professional Land Surveyor. Basic Requirement for GS-1370 Applicants must meet one of the following basic requirements for the 1370 series in order to be found qualified for the series. Degree:
cartography; or a major that included or was supplemented by at least 30 semester hours in cartography and/or directly related science, and related mathematics. Such course work includes, but is not limited to, cartography, astronomy, geodesy, photogrammetry, physical and geological oceanography, computer science, land surveying, geophysics, physical geography, and remote sensing. The 30 semester hours must have included at least 6, but no more than 15, semester hours of college level, non-business mathematics or statistics (i.e., college level algebra, trigonometry, calculus, or scientific mathematics or statistics requiring equivalent college-level courses as prerequisites).-OR-Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in cartography, or a major that included or was supplemented by at least 30 semester hours in cartography, and/or directly related science, and related mathematics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below- Minimum Qualifications for GS-1373 GS-07:
One year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include most of the following:
Analysis of Geographic information System (GIS) database in relation to land ownership, legal land description, infrastructure development and information that may have an impact on lands available for livestock grazing, carrying capacity and planning. OR Successfully completed one full year (18 semester hours) of graduate-level education, at an accredited institution, in course work such as land surveying or civil engineering as described above. OR Have an appropriate combination of graduate-level education and experience as described above. Education must have been obtained from an accredited institution. OR Superior Academic Achievement. The education must have been obtained at an accredited institution and must have been in a curriculum such as land surveying or civil engineering that is qualifying for a Land Surveyor position an demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. GS-9:
One year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as the following:
perform land surveyor work which involves measurement and delineation of lands, including establishing, investigation, and reestablishing land and property boundaries; OR a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related; OR an appropriate combination of specialized experience and education. GS-11:
One year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as the following:
projects involve determining land boundaries, development of designs plans and specification for the layout of range improvements projects and erosion control practices. OR 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree (coursework directly related to position being filled); OR an appropriate combination of specialized experience and graduate level education. Minimum Qualifications for GS-1370 GS-07:
One year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience include most of the following:
Knowledge of cartography and engineering technologies; and related disciplines including surveying, geodesy, photogrammetry, mapping, engineering and automated systems, to accomplish plans, designs and specifications. OR Successfully completed one full year (18 semester hours) of graduate-level education, at an accredited institution, in course work such as land surveying or civil engineering as described above. OR Combination of graduate-level education and experience as described above. Education must have been obtained from an accredited institution. OR Superior Academic Achievement. The education must have been obtained at an accredited institution and must have been in a curriculum such as cartography that is qualifying for a Cartography position an demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. GS-9:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 grade level in the federal service. Specialized experience is defined as the following:
perform cartography work which involves measurement and delineation of lands, including establishing, investigation, and reestablishing land and property boundaries. OR a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related; OR an appropriate combination of specialized experience and education. GS-11:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the federal service. Specialized experience is defined as the following:
perform work which involves measurement and delineation of tribal trust and individual Indian allotment lands, including establishing, investigation, and reestablishing land and property boundaries. OR 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR an appropriate combination of specialized experience and graduate level education. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Merit Promotion candidates must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the announcement closing date.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
